All Thirteen JV Players Seeing Plenty of Action in Double Header Against Ulysses

The Junior Varsity continue their great season with two more wins Thursday, April 5 against the Ulysses Tigers.

In the first game of 6 innings Trojans won 12-10.  Jerzy Ochoa pitched most of the game but was relieved in the 5th by Ella Krier.  Combined they had 6 strike outs.  The JV Trojans struggled to score until scoring 5 runs each in the third and sixth innings and two in the fifth inning.  Ella Krier was a brick wall at second base. Nothing went through her zone of play and with the assist of first baseman Marely Chavez they made play after play.   She also was a weapon at the bat scoring 2 runs.

The second game was just as intense, but the Trojans won 18-5.  Again, Ella Krier and Jerzy shared pitching responsibilities for the full 5 innings.  Combined they had eight strikeouts and walking only two Ulysses batters.  The Trojans held Ulysses scoreless after the second inning of the five.

Kayla Pantoja put on quite the show in both games but especially the second game.  Kayla is not afraid to throw to bases to keep the other team honest!  She threw out a Ulysses Tiger at first with the assist of Marely Chavez and at third with the assist of Aurora Walker.  She has built a brick wall behind the plate.  At bat she hit a ground rule double that bounced over the fence.

Tanah Martin hit an inside-the-park home run and slid in home for a run.  Jerzey Ochoa, Marely Chavez and Ella Krier each crossed home plate 3 times for 9 of the 18 Trojans runs. Aggressive base running for the Trojans definitely made a difference in the game.

It was a fantastic opportunity for the JV girls to really be able to play.  Many teams are not as lucky as SC with plenty of players to really play a game.  This could be their only double header of the season as in most cases it is a shortened version before the varsity game.  They loved the games and were excited for the two games of the evening.  As with JV lots of mistakes but lessons learned from all of them.  They realized they have a great gasp of the game and are putting the mental and physical together.  Ulysses was very accommodating in helping all these girls improve their skills.
