Goodbye to Board Member Matt Canny - Thank You

From the Desk of Trenton Horn: Superintendent of Schools

Greetings Stanton County! Time is flying by and the holiday season has passed. On Wednesday December 20th we held our monthly meeting of the Board of Education for USD #452 Stanton County. During the meeting, we said goodbye to Matt Canny.

Matt joined the board in January 2018. When asked why he chose to run for the school board Matt said “I decided to run for the Stanton County USD 452 school board because I noticed that the culture of the schools needed an overhaul. Starting with the direction of the board members.” In Matt’s opinion, he believes the greatest accomplishment of the board during his tenure has been the updating of the district goals and adherence to the improvement of the culture through the hiring and guiding of employees, the administration has set our schools off in the right direction. When asked what he is excited the most about the school district Matt replied “I'm excited for our school district to continue with the improvements in culture and staff hiring and retention. I believe that even in the difficult environment of shortages of teachers and qualified staff that our current direction will keep improving. The current and upcoming board has a very cohesive and inclusive attitude which resonates through the schools. Culture trumps most everything. Thank you for the opportunity to represent our community and fight for a good education for all of our students in Stanton County!”

Matt has dedicated his time, energy and effort as a board member for the past four years. I can tell you he is passionate about the education of all students in Stanton County. I thank him for his efforts and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
