Stanton County defeated Lakin in the 1st game of double header
Stanton County took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Lakin, but
this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Stanton
County had just enough and edged out Lakin 7-5. The victory was just business as
usual for the Trojans, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Sidney Parks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven
innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Parks
was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Summer Kendrick, who scored two
runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Another player making a difference was Mia Miravete, who scored a run and stole two
bases while going 1-for-2.

Fehringer, Kaydence McCleary, Mia Miravete, Karlee Narin.

Stanton County's Undefeated Season Over After Four Games
Stanton County fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Lakin on
Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the
Broncs by a score of 12-11. The loss was the Trojans' first of the season.
Kaydence McCleary was huge no matter where she played even without the win.
She struck out 11 batters over 7.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and six
unearned) runs off four hits. McCleary was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one
home run and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Summer Kendrick was cooking despite her team's loss,
scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her six plate
appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at
least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help
courtesy of Karlee Nairn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Valeria Ortega went 3 for 6 to lead the Trojans in hits. Summer Kendrick 2 singles,
Kaydence McCleary 1 single and 1 homerun, Kynzi Fehringer 1 homerun, Ella Krier
single, Mia Miravete single, Karlee Narin single.
A total of 8 RBI’s – Valeria Ortega 2, Kynzi Fehringer 2, Sidney Parks 1, Kaydence
McCleary 1 Mia Miravete 1 and Karlee Nairn 1. Runs scored – Kaydence McCleary 3,
Karlee Nairn 2, Summer Kendrick 2, 1 each to Valeria Ortega, Kenzi Fehringer, Ella
Krier and Mia Miravete.
4 Stolen bases – Summer Kendrick 2, Karlee Nairn and Mia Miravete 1 each.
Even though they lost, Stanton County lost a few balls and finished the game with
two home runs from Kaydence McCleary, over the fence and Kynzi Fehringer in the
park. That’s the most home runs they’ve managed all season.
